Abstract

Introduction:  It is not often that a collaboration in staff development between a school district and a University lasts long enough to allow for refinement and adjustment of design on the basis of experience. Pace University with the Lakeland Central School District has been fortunate, however, to have participated in eight years of training secondary school teachers to infuse critical thinking into classroom teaching. Funded by a series of Goals 2000 grants, the school system has each year, through University trained secondary school teachers, diffused staff training in turn-key mode to additional teachers in the district.
