Abstract

Introduction:  As many as you know, the title of this article was also the title of an international philosophy for children symposium held at the Menger Hotel in downtown San Antonio on April 12-14, 1989.  The symposium was the culminating event of a year-long project in which third, fourth, and fifth grade teachers from four area schools implemented the philosophy for children program in their schools.  In addition to a brief history of this project and a summary of the symposium and related events, the paper concludes with reactions to this year long project from both teachers and students involved in the program.
