Teaching Suki in 9th Grade

Abstract

Introduction:  "Use your imagination.  Yes, we are going to write poetry again.  Yes, everyone must do it.  Yes, it will be for a grade."  I shudder when I think of how many times I answered those questions during the past year.  Analytic Teaching had come to ninth grade in Arlington, Texas, but not without difficulty.  Like most school districts, Arlington's curriculum is very tightly packed and time for "extras" is difficult.  It was important, therefore, that Analytic Teaching be used directly in conjuntion with my subject matter English.
